I would have to get chains for each one of my vehicles, which would be costly. When we went to Yellowstone in May, I bought slip through chains that attach the same way. If you need to drive down a road for any distance get some chains.

If you are just trying to get unstuck, then use rope. Not as good as 4x4, but still will get a motorhome unstuck. This makes me want to see about a bumper mounted wench. Looks like it's less likely to cause damage than the old metal chain type straps. That type of traction device has been around a long time. Guess a person would need to check closely for clearance before purchase. But a lot of vehicles have the brake caliper way inside the wheel close to the rim, and that strap would hit the caliper. Looks like they would work on some cars/trucks.
